If'you've never seen fractals before then'this is a good disk to start with.'Brazzle Atkins has used Aegis's'"Lights-Camera-Action" and "Sonix"'software to mix colour-cycling fractal&graphics with a good driving music&track. The overall effect is a&hypnotic six minutes of visuals and&sound. The colour-cycling fits in&well with the music but loops at a&constant speed. If the cycles had&been timed to the music it may have&had an even more effective impact.&Each fractal is loaded while another&is displayed so there is no break&between each picture with nice&transformations provided by the&"Lights-Camera-Action" software. The&music, "Lighthouse Rok 3", is just&right for the graphics but it can&stand up perfectly well on it's own.'Unlike much Amiga music I actually'found myself consciously listening to'this piece. It's the music that makes
the slideshow.' The disk's not perfect though. On'auto-booting the title graphics are'shown but after exiting from these'workbench is loaded. You then have to'open the disk and run the program&proper. While Chaos Rock is playing'it multi-tasks OK but there doesn't'seem to be any way to exit the'program, either while it's running or'after it ends. So near but yet so far'from being correct Amiga software.'This also makes running it from your%own workbench not a lot of use. It%only runs from drive zero too. I%would have preferred an overscan%display too but then I always prefer

%overscan. Space is not always
available unfortunately.% Chaos Rock may prompt you to'explore the many mandelbrot and other'types of fractal generators available'if you haven't already done so - it's'certainly a quicker way to see them.'Incidentally mandelbrot fractals are'used as the pattern within the'headings and buttons of this magazine -'see below. But Chaos Rock stands up'in it's own right sitting (Sitting?)'as it does somewhere between a!slideshow, music disk and a demo.
